Bilbao Dramatically Defeat Real Madrid
Real Madrid was eliminated from the Spanish Cup semifinals by Athletic Bilbao. The 2-0 defeat referred to the Spanish Super Cup was a real blow for the guests, who had reached the Candidatura of their own right thanks to a convincing win against Betis Sevilla in the previous round. Real Madrid missed the chance to face FC Barcelona in the final four, although they lead the Primera División standings with 59 points ahead of rivals Atlético Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
